Animal Farm

What is the main Theme of this Novel??

1. In this story it the animals has had enough of the cruel torturing of the farmer Mr. Jones gives on them. They decides to from an rebellion and drive Jones out of his farm. They do suceed and they literally take over the farm and all its goods. This story is mainly based on the survival of the Manor Farm, which now has changed its name to the Animal Farm. The pigs are the leaders here because they ensure everyone that they are the smartest. The pigs make everything, they decide on everything, and they even make the defense plans just in case Jones and all his men ever think of re taking the farm. The pigs at first were extremely fair to everyone and made all kind of rules such as; all animals are equal, no animal must kill another, etc. However, as the time passed on the pigs started to make everything flow to their advantage and basically left the other animals to starve. In the end the novel finishes by the pigs trying to act as equal as the humans.
The theme of this story is that the humans are lashing out too hard on the animal thinking that they can’t do anything. They do not know the pain the animals are going through as a passing man kicks a dog, a farmer taking the eggs of a hen, or the brutal slaughtering of pigs or cows as they are killed just to fill our bellies. All animals feel every single one of these pain and that is the reason why animals are always so afraid of humans because they know that we are dangerous. It quoted at the very end of the book, “The other animals couldn’t tell the difference from the humans and the pigs, all laughing and celebrating together.” This means that this book is trying to tell us that humans are not much different from animals. we fight when we get angry, we are alwys fighting to survive in the society, the weak are picked on by the strong, and we will do anything to endure survival in this world.

Are there any current situations that relate to Novel??

2. In this society we are living currently we are witnessing so many animals abuse. It is just as same as in this novel “Animal Farm.” Jones abuses their animals so he his kicked out by the same animals who he thought couldn’t do anything about it. We are doing the same thing because we also think that the animals can’t do anything about it.
Two weeks ago there had been a report of an animal abuse. Stephen King a dog trainer was accused of abusing the dogs that he trains. A woman walking across the street saw Stephen nearly strangling the dog he was walking through the street. She also stated that this was not the first time she saw him doing these awful things. She also saw him kicking a dog because it wouldn’t hurry up taking a pee. Stephen King was arrested two days later and had to pay a fine of 300 U.S dollars and had to say a direct apology to the owners and to the animals he had abused.
The novel does give a light of how this problem can be stopped. As you had read in the novel, animals work better when they are happy and are actually having fun with their work. They are much as same as we humans are. When a child is forced to clean the kitchen he would not do very well and be done with it quickly. However, if a child is actually willing to do the job he makes sure he does it with the best effort he can put in. It is the same as animals. I know that we can’t really interact with animals, but if we are a bit nicer to them and beat them a bit less and give rewards when they have done a hard and good job then maybe, just maybe the animals would do a better job because they actually want to do it.

Who are the main character in the story??

3. There are several main characters in this story. There is the strong, brilliant steed named Boxer and there is the leader of the Animal Farm Napoleon. Boxer was basically the rock of the animals when it came to heavy duty work. Boxer was bigger than almost every horse and is strong as three good steeds. Boxer’s personal mantra was “Napoleon is always right and I must work harder.” I really like boxer in this story because he never gives up and always tries to do his best. He is never snotty about his strength and he never harasses any of his fellow animals. In the human world he would be like a big brother of everyone else who looks after everyone. The leader of Animal farm Napoleon is the sly boar who controls everything. There used to be a second leader named Snowball, however Napoleon forced Snowball out with his grand hounds that he has bred from their child hood. Now he is the sole ruler of Animal Farm and he shows no mercy on anyone who disobeys him. I actually hate Napoleon since he was the one who promised freedom to the animals, but now he is making them into his slaves. In the human society he would be like the evil tyrant who rules over everyone in a cruel way and makes choices that only benefits him and himself only.

What is the climax of this story??

4. There is a climax in this story; however it is a bit difficult to define it. The climax comes when the animals finishes their windmill for the second time because the first one was destroyed by snowbell and his rebellion. Now the second one was finished, after a year of hard and backbreaking work. About a week after it was finished Jones and two dozen men with half a dozen of them holding guns came to take back their farm. The animals rushed towards them, but were driven back by the harsh bullets of Jones and his men. The animals were driven back all the ways towards their barn house and saw the most devastating thing happen in front of their eyes. The men planted explosives around the bomb and in a minute a deafening explosion occurred. After, the smoke and the dust cleared away the windmill was totally destroyed. When the animals saw this they rushed out to the men and in the end defeated them thus driving them back and out of the gate that says “Animal Farm.”
While I was reading the chapter and finding out the many events, that occurred in Animal Farm. I noticed that animals might not be as stupid as we thought. Animals could live with each other and not kill each other. I also noticed that the only reason why humans control the animals is because of the weaponry we have. If we were to fight toe on toe with absolutely no weapon we would lose and it would be the animals who were the superiors on earth.

What is the mood of this novel??

5. The mood of this story changes in many different ways. When the book first started it was the mood of suffering as animals were getting abused by Jones. After the capturing the farm the mood was incredibly high. Animals worked harder because they were happy and they did not even steal a mouthful while doing the great harvest. All animals trusted each other and every animal loved each other. Even the cats left the mice alone and followed every single rule of the farm. This mood was on going until the outcast of Snowball, the leader who truly cared for the animals. The mood dropped from extremely happy to worrying anxiety, since Napoleon’s hounds were literally snarling at every beast who opposed Napoleon. And finally the mood dropped into total despair as Napoleon started to have contact with humans and did everything towards his advantage. This novel really makes me feel sympathetic towards the other animals that were under Napoleon’s rule. Napoleons promised freedom, but sold back to slavery. I would have never thought that the story would end by Napoleon finally having everything his way and making other animals suffer. So, I was quite saddened and disappointed in how the story ended.

Please choose one passage from the novel that is significant to you??

6. The most passage that seems the most significance to me is in the very last chapter in the book. In the very end when Jones and his men and Napoleon and his pigs meet to agree on a new contract. And they are half drunk, laughing and playing poker. In the end there is a huge argument between the pigs and the men because both of them have just laid down two queen of ace at the same time. And the novel finishes by writing the last quote. “As they yelled at each other red faced and angry the animals couldn’t distinguish between the human and the pigs.” I really favored this quote because it really tells how humans can be really similar to animals sometimes. The only thing that differ us from those beasts is that we have the ability to talk everything over and deal it out in a mannerly way. However, when humans lose control of themselves and starts to get violent and physical. When this happens men are no different from the beast that we look down on so much. I honestly think that this passage is really a good passage for this book where animals are stated to be not much different from humans.

Are there any settings in this novel which you have found to be beautiful? or disturbing? or memorable??

7. I found that in this novel I found events which I found memorable, disturbing, and beautiful. The events which I found quite memorable were the determinations of the animals even after all those disasters they went through. I was even surprised to see that the animals actually had the guts to stand up to the master who have ruled over them from the beginning of their lives. It takes up a lot of guts to take down your superior because you know that they would get their revenge on you one way or the other. However, the most beautiful event were right after the destruction of their second windmill. As soon as the windmill was destroyed the animal got into a cold fury which drove them to rush back into a battle that seemed to me far lost. The animals lost many beasts in that battle, but at least they were able to defeat their enemy, and won with pride. The story itself towards the end was disturbing to me because the way animals were treated by other animals who had more power than them. The event that disturbed me the most was when Napoleon betrayed boxer, the great strong steed, which led to Boxer’s early death. I thought this was just plain cruel since boxer was the most hardest and efficient worker and now since he is old Napoleon just decides to sell him to a renderer. This was the most disturbing thing to in the book because only the cruelest human in earth would do this to his animals. In here though an animal did this evil deed on a animal.

For the last entry I will write the summary of Animal Farm

8. The story first starts out with a boar named Major who called a meeting in the barn just before he died. He said that he had a dream of animals roaming free and doing what ever they want with no pain, no work, and no hunger. Major wanted to make this dream come true. So, all the animals decided to do a rebellion for Major’s last wish. They were able to succeed and they did drive Jones and his men out of their own farm. Out of all the animals there were two leaders. The leaders were Napoleon and Snowball. These were the two smartest beasts in the farm and they were the one who made the 10 commandments for the farm. Even though Snowball and Napoleon were the two smartest animals on the farm they never seemed to be on an agreement with each other. Snowball wanted to work on their defense organization plan, but Napoleon wanted to train their beast how to use arms and fight. These arguments happened over and over and the last and final argument happened about the construction of the windmill. Since; Napoleon always lost on the agreements he called on 9 enormous hounds which has he had been training ever since they were puppies. The hounds chased snowball all over the farm and in the end snowball was banished. As the Years past more and more suffering came to the animals (except the pigs) and it seemed like all the rules in the 10 commandments were beginning to change. The pigs were drinking alcohol and sleeping in the beds of the Jones. There already were two major battles which led to the death of many animals. Animals under the rule of the pigs were always hungry and sometimes betryaed. And in the end the story ends with the pigs interacting with Jones and making a new treaty about the farm life.
